E-BikeKit Rear 500w Direct-Drive Hub Motor Conversion Kit with 48 Volt Li-ion Battery Pack and Charger.
This premium electric bike conversion kit system is for riders that require the increased durability of a direct-drive motor for heavier loads and the long term reliability of a lithium battery. The direct-drive hub motor used in this conversion kit system is for heavier applications and a MUST for any total load (bike+rider+cargo) of 300 lbs. or more. This system pairs the heavy-duty motor with a 48v battery pack with a 20 mph top speed for increased torque.
Direct-drive motors are strong, durable, and long-lasting due to zero internal friction. Some lower quality or larger direct-drive motors have resistance, but that should not be a concern with this E-BikeKit direct-drive hub motor.

System Specs:
Watts (Nominal/Peak): 500-1000w (EBK 22Amp controller)
Top Speed: Approx. 20 mph @48v in 26" wheel
Range: 9-42 Miles
Charge Time: 2.5 hrs (from 0-100%)
Weight: 24 lbs. (11 kgs)
Performance: High
Efficiency: Medium
Stealth Factor: Low

Li-ion batteries provide a high level of performance for the duration of each discharge (unlike seal lead-acid where performance is diminished 1:1 as the pack is emptied). Li-ion batteries have a much higher power to weight ratio than lead-acid and 5-8 times the number of charge cycles (how many times a rechargeable battery can be charged from 0-100%). The li-ion option costs more initially, but over time, the "cost-per-cycle" is about half the cost of lead-acid. Li-ion packs also require less care as they can be left partially charged, and do not require immediate charging after each use. All batteries MUST be properly cared for during storage.

Battery Choice: We offer 3 battery packs for this kit - the 9Ah li-ion shrink wrapped battery is the lightest and smallest, at just 5.8 lbs. The 20Ah li-ion shrink wrapped battery is the longest-lasting, with a 20-44 mile range.

48v 9Ah Bag Battery

Range: 9-18 Miles
Price: Starting at $1,228 depending on freewheel
This e-bike battery is a lightweight and easy to carry pack. Two of these packs will fit into one canvas battery bag (included) nicely, offering the option of taking one or two of these depending on your range needs. You do have to connect them one at a time as needed; same for charging.

** It is common to carry two 48v 9Ah batteries in the same canvas bag in order to double your range. However, these batteries can not be used in parallel with one another. In other words, you would have to physically unplug one, in order to use the other. **

48v 10Ah w/ 2-Tier Rack

Range: 10-20 Miles
Price: Starting at $1,492 depending on freewheel
This li-ion e-bike battery offers a nice finished look plus a locking mechanism for securing the battery in the middle section of an included 2-tiered rack. The top of the rack remains clear and available.

48v 20Ah Bag Battery

Range: 20-40 Miles
Price: Starting at $1,666 depending on freewheel
This e-bike battery is the largest capacity, longest range e-bike battery we offer. This pack weighs 14 lbs. and comes in our canvas battery bag with velcro straps for securing it to the top of a conventional rear rack (not included).

Choosing Your Wheel Size: You can find your wheel size written on your tire. Available size options for this conversion kit are: 16", 20", 24", 26", 700c, and 29er. Acceptable tire widths for the E-BikeKit rims: 1.15" (29mm) - 2.25" (57mm).

Freewheel Choice and OLD Spacing: E-BikeKit motors are intended for a 7-speed freewheel and provide 135mm OLD (dropout) spacing with a 7-speed freewheel and 15mm disc-offset.

When using an 8, 9, or 10-speed freewheel, this will increase the OLD by about 3.5mm per speed. When the motor is assembled E-Bike Kit will dish and space it correctly to fit this. To install the wider wheel, you may need to spread the dropouts of the bike open in order to fit.

If you are not using disc brakes, so don't need the 15mm disc-offset, we can reconfigure the spacing to fit 135mm in many cases.
